Janine's Articles From the Soul From the Outside Poetry Corner Prisoner Letters

by Lanny Thomas

Truth dwells in the eyes of the knowing

Behind the realm-separating mesh

Endless sheets of starlight glowing

So luminous, explicit, and fresh

Between here, now, then and there

Entangled in a web with the bitten

On a mission to dissolve the need to care

Why pray if it’s already written?

In the phase of separation some disappear

They can’t see the crops for the cream

Resting contentedly in their blankets of fear

They dance in the darkest of dreams

Beaten, shattered, and duly reprimanded

Then baptized in a cauldron of scars

They cauterize the wounds they’re handed

On the edges of smoldering stars.
